Be a part of the show
at the South Side Library! Create your own puppet shows and take home a "handy" friend with our extensive puppet collection. Children can also select a number of classic titles in our children's area.
The library is also a great place for teens
Our teen loft area is packed with soft, comfortable seating, the loft is equipped with a TV, DVD player, and headphones, perfect for watching your favorite films. Teens also have the benefit of a quiet work space with our two private study areas.
Patrons now can feel comfort as they sit about library and read in our new lounge chairs. Sit next to a computer in one of our new, ergonomic office chairs and spend an hour surfing the net, creating text documents, and more.
The South Side Library was extensively renovated in 2007 at a cost of $638,218. The project was funded by a public/private partnership between the City of Des Moines and the Des Moines Public Library Foundation.
